Celta Vigo president hopes Oscar Mingueza will stay at the club for many years amid interest from a number of clubs, including his former club Barcelona.
Celta Vigo president Marian Mourinho has confirmed that Barcelona are not in talks to buy Oscar Mingueza back from the club, as previously reported, but the Blaugrana will receive 50 per cent of the player’s future transfer fee, Ufabet Sport reported on Monday.
Mingueza joined Celta Vigo from Barcelona in the summer of 2022 for just €3m, but the Blaugrana still hold 50 per cent of the player’s rights, and the 25-year-old has impressed enough to earn a call-up to the Spain national team by Luis de la Fuente, with the Catalan giants reportedly considering a return to the club.
Mingueza is currently under contract until 2026 and has a €20 million release clause, with a number of clubs interested in signing the 25-year-old defender.
‘Barcelona have the right to sign the player first and are entitle to 50 percent of the next sale. They do not have a buy-back program.’
‘Marco Garces (sporting director) is responsible for the renewal schedule. Mingueza is happy here and we are happy with him. It’s a matter of sitting down and talking when the time comes.’
‘It’s normal for Barcelona to get a share of the sales UFABET revenue. It doesn’t just happen with Mingueza, it happens every day. It’s not limit to us, it doesn’t benefit us or take anything away from us. What we want is for him to stay here for a long time,’ Mourinho said.
