Everton winger Ashley Young became the oldest player to score a Premier League goal from a free-kick at the age of 39 years and 149 days. When he helped his team beat Wolves 4-0 at home.

The Toffees played at home. Young curled a free-kick past Jose Sarr in the first 10 minutes before Orel Mangala added another goal and Craig Dawson converted two of his own goals in the second half.

The previous free-kick record was held by former West Ham defender Stuart Pearce, who scored at the age of 38 years and 180 days in October 2000, http://ufabet999.app but his performance on Wednesday saw Young overtake him.

Young also became the oldest Everton player to score in the club’s history, overtaking Wally Fielding, who did so in 1958.

Orel Mangala found the back of the net for the first time in Everton colours before the unfortunate Dawson scored a brace of own goals to compound the woes of Wolves, who have now conceded 36 times in 14 games this season, comfortably the most in the division.

Everton moved up to 15th place in the table with 14 points from as many matches and Wolves slipped to second bottom with nine points as the pressure grows on manager Gary O’Neil.

In the Premier League, Young overtook former Manchester United team-mate Ryan Giggs to move into fourth place. In the list of oldest goal scorers, he is behind only Thiago Silva, Dean Windass and Teddy Sheringham.
