Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has given fans good news that he will hold talks with the club over a new contract after the summer transfer window closes in 2024, and there will likely be significant progress during the international break.

Arteta took over at the end of 2019 and in his first season, won the FA Cup, which gave the club the confidence to work freely and saw continuous development every season, becoming a team competing for the English Premier League title. 

But because the current contract is entering its final year, many are worried that he might be lured to a big club like Manchester City or Barcelona to manage the team, causing the ‘Gunners’ to lack continuity. 

The 42-year-old has now hinted that he will meet with sporting director Edu Gaspar on August 30 to discuss extending his contract at the Emirates Stadium. 

“The focus is still on the transfer market. We still have many things to sort out and discuss,” he said during the press conference before the match against Aston Villa (August 24).

“Let’s focus on the things in front of us first. They are the things we care about right now.”
